Help children read better by making sure they are reading something at their grade level. Listen to them read as they read aloud. If they get stuck on a word write down or stop her reading and have her sound out the letters. Remember, sounding out the letters makes for more successful reading. It's the best way to help children read better.
Helping children read can be very rewarding. Again, make sure they are not looking at pictures to guess at the words. That's more of a right brain activity not left brain. Focus on phonics to allow the pronunciation part of reading be the first step in the reading process. Then the right side of the brain focuses on the meaning of the words.
Have a great day....reading with your children.
